The Feminine Touch

"Oh No, Not That Subject!"

For my first article, I want to address a subject very close to the female gender, "Submission".

In this age and society we live in today, submission is almost a dirty word. Women are becoming more and more educated and assertive. Some, if not many, are stepping far out of the realm in which God created them for . Let me stop here for a second and make two comments. One, there is nothing wrong with an educated and assertive woman, as long as long as she remembers she is a Christian and acts accordingly.  Two, education and assertiveness may be very important for unmarried or widowed women. For those who do not have a husband; it is necessary at times to handle situations by yourself. In these cases,  pray and ask God to give you wisdom on how to handle the problem. Also ask Him to put someone in your path that will help you.

Many things have changed over the years for women. They have become more respected and been given more roles to fulfill then God had intended.

If a Christian women decides to take on extra activities, such as a job, volunteer work, social events, or clubs, she must be sure spiritually it is right, and also physically ready to be able to handle it. She should NEVER forget her primary role God gave her in Genesis 2:18 as "Help meet". You might say that's just for married women. Every single women has the potential of becoming a wife unless God leads differently.

Helping people does not only apply to husbands and wives. You may be called on to care for children, teach a Sunday School class, or tell your testimony to the teens in your church.

What ever you are called upon to do, show others how to serve. Submission and serving go hand in hand.

Submission needs to be taught early! Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old he will not depart from it". Jesus is a great example of this. In Luke 2:51 Jesus submits himself to his parents. Submission is in itself obedience.1 Samuel 15:22 "... to obey is better then sacrifice". God wants us to obey!

Christian Woman Are You Obeying?

  1. To the married woman: Ephesians 5:22-23.
"Wives submit your selves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body". Be obedient to your husband.

  2. To the young ladies and young unmarried women at home: Colossians 3:20.
"Children obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord". Parents are the authority.

  3. To the unmarried women or widowed women living on their own: Hebrews 13:17.
"Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you". Ask your pastor for counsel.

  4. To the divorced woman: Personally, I would say that Hebrews 13:17 applies to you as well.

A point of light to ponder: Christian ladies and women to you I say "Let your light so shine, for if it doesn't, you could cause others to stumble on your unlit path".
